Jovanka Bončić Katerinić je bila arhitekta, rođena Nišlijka koja je u Darmštatu (Nemačka) bila među prvim ženama koje ću upisati fakultet.
Treću mušku gimnaziju u završava u Beogradu, a studije koje je započela na Beogradskom univerzitetu, kao stipendistkinja nastavlja u Darmštatu 1909. godine. Jovanka stiže u Darmštat u godini kada tamo žene po prvi put dobijaju pravo da redovno studiraju. Od oko 1,500 studenata, uz Jovanku je bilo samo 4 devojke. Prva žena koja je stekla diplomu arhitekte na Visokoj tehničkoj školi u Damštatu bila je upravo Jovanka Bončić, 1913. godine. Koliko je ovaj događaj bio nesvakidašnji u Nemačkoj, govori i činjenica da je o tome pisao i berlinski list “Illustrierte Zeitung”, koji je tome posvetio svoju naslovnu stranu.
Jovanka je projektovala Banjsku dvoranu i Blatno kupatilo u Banji Koviljači, te Žensku učiteljsku školu kraljice Marije i Veterinarski fakultet u Beogradu.
Nagrada departmana geonauke koja se danas dodeljuje iznarednim studentima Univerziteta u Darmštatu nosi ime Jovanke Bončić.
Jovanka Bončić Katerinić was an architect, born in Niš and one of the first women to enroll at the University of Darmstadt (Germany).
After finishing high school in Belgrade, she begun her studies in Belgrade as well, but continued them in Darmstadt in 1909. The year that Jovanka came to Darmstadt was the first year that women were allowed to enroll at the University of Darmstadt. Apart from Jovanka, there were only 4 other women enrolled. The first woman to get her degree in architecture was Jovanka in 1913. This was such an extraordinary event that Berlin newspaper “Illustrierte Zeitung” wrote about it and dedicated it’s cover page to the story.
Jovanka designed Spa resort palace in Banja Koviljača and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Belgrade.
Today, the award given outstanding students, by Department of Geoscience of University of Darmstadt is named after Jovanka Bončić.
