Danica Tomić was the first female pilot in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during 1920.

Details on Danica’s life are hard to find. In 1928 she got her pilot’s licence becoming the first lady with this document in the former Yugoslavia.

She was the best one in her class – she managed to do the looping – one of the most complex plane acrobatics that includes 360 degrees rotation of the flying machine. Danica was married to the mayor Miodrag Tomić, Yugoslav pilot, next to whom she learnt to drive airplanes.
